Peru Mission Trip

An international mission trip is an incredible way to make a difference in people’s lives. This year MHICDC will be acting as sponsor for one person. You can become an important part of this global initiative and make a difference in people’s lives whether you are called to pray or donate to the trip.
Peru (Republica del Peru) is the official name of this country. It is located in the Western coast of South America. Peru has a population of 21, 600, 000 (estimate). Major languages: Spanish and Quechua (official). Major religious group: Roman Catholic.
Earthquake Threats
Geological faults, or deep fractures in the layers of rock, run the entire length of the Andean mountain range. These faults have produced many earthquakes in Peru. In 1970 north central Peru suffered the Western Hemisphere’s worst known earthquake. About 70, 000 people were killed, and another 500, 000 lost their homes. Other earthquakes have caused extensive damage in Lima, Cuzco, Trujillo, and Arequipa.
